About the Event

This 2-hour classroom course teaches practical, legally mindful self-defense using non-lethal tools and simple hand-to-hand techniques. We’ll cover defensive options commonly carried by civilians (kubotans, pepper spray, stun devices), discuss legal considerations and safe deployment, and run basic, controlled physical drills designed to reduce harm to you and others.

Topics include:

  • Pros/cons and safe handling of common non-lethal tools (kubotans, chemical sprays, electronic devices)

  • Legal and situational considerations — when use is appropriate and how to avoid escalation

  • Basic, low-risk hand-to-hand techniques and off-body movement to create escape opportunities

  • Pressure point awareness (safety and avoidance), de-escalation, and preventing self-injury while defending yourself
